Bordeaux is all about blending and the traditions of French Bordeaux are expressed here. When it comes to this bottle, you'll savor every drop. This 100% Merlot creation received a Gold Medal at the Concours International Gilbert & Gaillard, which is not a surprise, from the time that you take your first sip. When the grapes came in from the 2015 harvest, the wine makers noted that the fruit was so good that they needed to make a varietal bottling, rather than a traditional blending. It's a soft wine that might trick you into thinking that it's a New World sipper, but it possesses the tannins and make it a perfect wine for short-term aging. Perfect with the meats of the holidays, and even a cheese appetizer.
More acreage in Napa Valley is devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon than any other grape variety. No wonder Cabernet Sauvignon has come to be known as "King Cab". What many people don’t know is that California is home to a number of California growing areas that are just as welcoming to Cabernet Sauvignon vines as Napa. This 2014 El Tiburon Cellars Cabernet was crafted from just that - a bit of Napa, and several other California growing regions, to blend into a beautiful, aromatic and flavorful perfection. This is a complex cuvee that offers notes of violets, black berries and herbs. A perfect accompaniment to any holiday feast, or a lovely holiday gift.
Grown in the Languedoc-Roussillon growing area of France, this bottling was partially barrel fermented in order to optimize the richness and freshness of the wine. Viognier is long known to be one of the most natural aromatic and flavorsome of the white grape varieties from the South of France and this wine is no exception. It offers crisp, ripe notes of orange blossom, peach, apricot and a bit of vanilla, coconut and toasted cedar. This can be served alongside almost any dish of the holiday meal, but our tasting panel found it to be a perfect match for mashed sweet potatoes.
